Conan Movie 2026!

Hi everyone! It’s Angie from Jabble Funabashi Eikaiwa (船橋の英会話スクール) 😊

As most of you know, I’m a huge anime fan, and honestly, that love has only grown stronger since I moved to Japan. Being surrounded by anime culture here is a bit like living inside a dream for me. There’s always something new to watch, a collaboration happening, or a poster catching your eye on the train platform.

One of my all-time favorite series is Detective Conan (also known as “Case Closed” in English). I used to watch it back in the U.S. with friends, and it was always one of those shows we’d casually put on and then suddenly get completely hooked. Fast forward to now, living in Japan, and I’ve rediscovered it in a whole new way.

Since moving here, I’ve started watching a lot more anime regularly, and yes, Conan made its way back into my routine. At first, I was a little hesitant to dive in again. I mean, the series has been airing since 1996 and has over 1,000 episodes! That’s a serious commitment 😅 But instead of trying to “catch up,” I decided to just enjoy it at my own pace, and especially through the movies.

Recently, I went to see the newest film, “Detective Conan: Fallen Angel of the Highway”, in theaters, and it was such a fun experience! Watching Conan on the big screen in Japan feels completely different. The energy in the theater, the reactions from the audience, and just seeing familiar characters in such high-quality animation, it really makes it special.

One unexpected bonus? It turned into a bit of a listening challenge for me. Watching without English subtitles really pushes your Japanese skills, especially with all the detective vocabulary and fast-paced dialogue. It’s like a fun (and slightly intense) listening test!

Another thing I love is how Conan season has kind of become an annual tradition around Golden Week. Every year, there’s a new movie release, and you can feel the excitement building everywhere.

This year, I noticed promotions all over the place. There were big displays in Yokohama, themed posters around Funabashi Station, and even fun collaborations at places like Kura Sushi, where you can get Conan-themed prizes from their gacha system if you’re lucky!

It really makes you feel how popular the series still is, even after all these years.

Someday, I’d also love to visit Tottori, which is the hometown of Conan’s creator and home to a Conan museum. It’s definitely on my Japan bucket list!

If you’re studying English (or Japanese!), I actually think anime like Conan can be a great learning tool. It’s engaging, it keeps you motivated, and you get to hear natural expressions in context. Plus, it’s just plain fun.

Anyway, that’s my latest anime adventure!
Have you watched any Conan movies before? Or do you have a favorite anime recommendation? Let me know next time you come to class! 🎬✨
