時間がある時は何してますか？What do you do in your free time?
料理にはまっているよ。子供のころ、うちの家族は総菜屋さんを営んでいたから、ずっと料理に興味はあるんだ。
最近は、ピザ、チリ、ボリューム満点のスープなど恋しのアメリカの料理を再現するのを試みている。
I’m pretty into cooking. Growing up, my family had a small deli so I’ve always been interested in cooking.
These days I try to recreate the things I miss from the U.S., like good pizza, chili and other hearty soups.
日本に来て驚いたことは？What has surprised you since you came to Japan?
日本の公共交通機関には常に感心しているよ。新幹線から田舎のバスまで、どれも素晴らしいよ。シカゴに5年住んだ後、日本の電車、バスの正確さには驚きだったよ。
I’m constantly impressed by Japan’s public transportation system. From the bullet train to local buses, everything is great. After living in Chicago for five years, I couldn’t believe how reliable Japanese trains and buses are.
あなたのホームタウンで面白いところ、またはあなたのホームタウンで恋しいことは？Something interesting about your hometown or what do you miss about your hometown?
正直言って、私の地元はすごく小さな地域だけど、もし、旅行に来たら、マークトゥエインハウスに行ってみて。今は美術館になっていて、アメリカの偉大な作家の一人が彼の最も有名な本を書いた場所が見れるよ。
My hometown is pretty small to be honest, but if you are in the area you can visit the Mark Twain House. It’s a museum now where you can see the place where one of America’s greatest writers wrote his most famous books.
日本でお気に入りの場所は？Favorite memory in Japan?
日本でのいい思い出は石垣島から竹富島への日帰り旅行だよ。石垣からフェリーに乗って、竹富に行き、現地でローカルフードを食べたり、信じれないくらい美しい景色を眺めながらふらふらしたことかな。
My favorite memory is when I took a day trip from Ishigaki to Taketomi Island. I took the ferry from Ishigaki and then had an awesome day on Taketomi wandering around, eating local food and taking in the incredible scenery.
