多摩川台公園で家族のお出かけ｜武蔵小杉で英会話を学ぶならJabble

One of the things I enjoy most about living in Japan is discovering places that are close to home but still feel like an adventure.

Back in June, I decided to take my twins out for the day. We headed to Tamagawadai Park, which is located near the Tama River between Tokyo and Kanagawa. I chose it because it was easy to get to from home and seemed like a good place for a walk with the stroller.

But I had kind of forgotten that Tamagawadai Park is famous for its beautiful hydrangeas that bloom in June. Because of that, I was surprised to see so many people there, especially since it was on a weekday. Although the park isn’t very large, it’s a peaceful place to spend a few hours. We didn’t actually make it through the entire park because the final section wasn’t suitable for our stroller. That’s one thing you quickly learn as a parent—you sometimes have to change your plans depending on where you can go with young children.

The hydrangeas were mostly concentrated near the entrance to the park, and they were definitely worth seeing. There were shades of blue, purple, pink, and white everywhere. Even though seeing the flowers wasn’t the main reason for our visit, they ended up becoming one of my favourite parts of the day.

Since the park sits on a hill overlooking the Tama River, there are some lovely views across the river toward Kanagawa. On a clear day, it’s a great place to stop, relax, and appreciate the scenery. Sometimes we forget how many beautiful places are hiding in the middle of busy cities.

The highlight of the day didn’t end up being the flowers or the view – it turned out to be the playground. The twins were finally old enough to try the swings for the very first time. I wasn’t sure how they were going to react, but thankfully, both of them loved it. There were plenty of laughs from both of them to back that up.
