Over the holiday break, my family and I took a short trip to Enoshima.
It wasn’t a big vacation — just a simple day trip — but it turned out to be better than I expected.

We started at the Enoshima Aquarium. My son was especially excited to see the sharks.
He stood in front of the large tank for a long time, completely focused on them swimming slowly through the water.
Every time one passed by, he would point and say, “Look!” with the same level of excitement.

There’s something powerful about seeing sharks up close. They move so smoothly and calmly, even though we usually think of them as dangerous.
Watching them glide through the water was surprisingly peaceful.

As a parent, those small moments are the best part of any trip. You don’t need anything extravagant — just time together and something interesting to explore.
After the aquarium, we walked up and around Enoshima Island. If you’ve ever been there, you know there are quite a few stairs.
It turned into more exercise than I planned! But the ocean views were worth it.
Walking around the island felt like a mini adventure, even though it’s not far from Funabashi.

During this season, Enoshima also has a Christmas light event.
I honestly didn’t expect much. Sometimes illumination events can be small or overly crowded. But this one really impressed me.

The lights were beautifully arranged, and the whole island had a warm, festive atmosphere. Seeing the area lit up at night completely changed the feeling compared to the daytime.
It was calm but exciting at the same time.

It made me think about how we describe experiences in English.
In class at Jabble Funabashi, many students tell me about their trips or weekends. Often they say, “It was fun,” or “It was good.” But we can say much more than that.
For example:
“It was better than I expected.”
“The view was worth the climb.”
“There were more stairs than I thought.”
“The atmosphere was completely different at night.”
These kinds of sentences make your English sound natural and detailed.
Many of our adult students study English for travel, business, or personal development.
Being able to clearly describe your own experiences builds real confidence. Even a simple day trip to Enoshima can become a great English conversation topic.

You don’t need an overseas vacation to practice storytelling. A short trip, a restaurant visit, or even a family outing can be perfect material.
That’s something we focus on at Jabble Funabashi. We help students express their own thoughts — not just repeat textbook sentences.
We correct in real time and practice natural phrases that you can actually use.
Looking back, the trip was simple: sharks at the aquarium, a long walk around the island, and beautiful Christmas lights at night.
But it turned into a meaningful day because we experienced it together.

And honestly, it exceeded my expectations.
If you’ve had a recent trip or even just a small weekend adventure, I’d love to hear about it in class. Let’s turn your experiences into confident English conversation.
