Hello everyone! This is Subaru from Jabble Musashi-Kosugi.
Today, I’d like to share a small but very heartwarming moment that happened recently at our school.
At first glance, it may sound like a simple story about waffles, but moments like this are exactly what create Jabble’s warm atmosphere and help make English learning enjoyable.

The other day, Kelly’s wife kindly brought us homemade waffles! And not just one kind—there were three flavors: chocolate, plain, and cinnamon.
When I opened the box, they all looked amazing.
I hesitated for a moment, but of course, the first one I chose was chocolate. I have a sweet tooth, so that decision was easy!

There were enough waffles for each of us teachers to enjoy two each.
But that day, we were quite busy with lessons and student support, so we didn’t get to eat them right away.
By the time we finally tasted them a few hours later, I wondered if they might have gone soft. But surprisingly, they were still crisp, and the flavor was wonderful!

The next day, we ate the remaining waffles. This time, I wanted to try something different, so I warmed mine up in the microwave.
And wow—I was shocked! The texture became incredibly soft and fluffy in a really good way.
The warm chocolate became melty and rich, giving it a completely different kind of deliciousness from the day before.

Experiences like this remind me once again how warm and welcoming the atmosphere at Jabble Musashi-Kosugi really is.
Of course, students come here to improve their English skills and build confidence in conversation.
But I also believe that these small interactions—like friendly chats before and after lessons, or receiving a thoughtful treat—are part of what makes learning enjoyable.

When students or their families give us something from the heart, it means a lot to us.
It creates a feeling of comfort and safety at the school, and in a relaxed environment, people naturally want to talk more.
Smiles increase, and English comes out more naturally.

Food-related topics also make excellent practice for English conversation.
With these waffles, Stacey and I talked about many things in English—how the texture changed, whether it was crispy or fluffy, and what the warm version tasted like.
English has many expressive words for describing food: crispy, fluffy, rich, light, and many more that are easy to use once you learn them.

Even your everyday meals can become English practice.
You can try saying things like “It’s not too sweet,” “It tastes better when warmed up,” or “The aroma is nice.”
You don’t always need a textbook—sometimes one waffle is enough to spark a great English conversation!

At Jabble Musashi-Kosugi, our goal is to create a place where English feels natural.
Instead of relying only on formal study, we make use of everyday topics—food, weekend plans, hobbies—because familiar subjects lead to better conversations and help new vocabulary stick.

Kelly’s wife probably never imagined that her homemade waffles would end up in a staff blog and connect to an English-learning topic.
But this is exactly what makes Jabble so unique—unexpected everyday moments can become meaningful opportunities to practice English.

Once again, thank you so much for the delicious waffles!
They warmed both our hearts and our stomachs.

To all our students at the Musashi-Kosugi school, please tell us about your favorite foods during your next lesson.
It can be surprisingly challenging to describe them in English, but it’s excellent practice.
And who knows—maybe we’ll have another waffle story to share in the future!

See you at the school soon.
Let’s enjoy English—and waffles—together!
