Late-Night Pokémon Battles & Post-Apocalyptic Adventures – My Favorite Video Games

It’s Roy from Jabble Funabashi Eikaiwa (船橋 Jabble 英会話スクール).
Today, I want to talk about something I’m really passionate about—video games.
I tried to pick just one favorite, but I couldn’t decide between two that mean a lot to me. Both have brought me hours (or honestly, years) of entertainment.

Let’s start with a childhood classic: Pokémon Emerald.
This Game Boy Advance title came out in 2004, and I still remember playing it under the covers late at night when I should have been sleeping.
I was completely hooked. The legendary Pokémon Rayquaza on the cover looked so cool, and to this day, he’s still one of my top favorites.
Exploring the Hoenn region, collecting badges, and building a strong team—it was such a memorable part of growing up.

The other game I have to mention is a bit more grown-up: Fallout: New Vegas.
This one is set in a post-apocalyptic version of America, but with a retro-futuristic twist.
The world feels like a mix of 1950s design and wild science fiction. The best part? Every small decision you make changes the storyline.
The freedom to explore, choose your path, and use strange and wacky weapons makes it a game I never get bored of. Even after all these years, I keep coming back to it.

Games like these are great topics because they’re fun, full of unique vocabulary, and always spark interesting conversations.

今日は、僕が大好きな趣味についてお話ししたいと思います。それは…ビデオゲーム！
本当は一つだけ紹介しようと思ったのですが、どうしても二つに絞れませんでした。どちらも最高なんです。

まずは、子どものころの思い出が詰まった名作、「ポケットモンスター エメラルド」。
2004年に発売されたこのゲーム、僕は布団の中でこっそり夜中にプレイしていたのをよく覚えています。
カバーに描かれた伝説のポケモン・レックウザは今でも僕のお気に入りの一体です。
ホウエン地方を冒険し、バッジを集め、最強のチームを作っていく体験は、とても思い出深いものでした。

もう一つのお気に入りは、ちょっと大人向けのゲーム「Fallout: New Vegas（フォールアウト：ニューベガス）」です。
このゲームは、架空の時代のアメリカが舞台で、核戦争後の世界を自由に探索できるRPGです。
レトロな雰囲気と、ユニークな未来的武器が混ざり合った世界観が最高です。そして、ゲーム内の小さな選択一つでエンディングが変わるというストーリー構成も魅力的。
今でも何度もプレイし直すくらい、大好きな作品です。
