How is your New Year so far?

Hello everyone! This is Marshall from the Jabble Musashi Kosugi school.

A few months ago, during the New Year’s holiday, a friend and I decided to visit Zojo-ji shrine for our first shrine visit of the year.

Naturally, the temple was extremely crowded. It took us five minutes to get through the crowd to the steps of the main temple building.

After we had made an offering and prayed, we went to get our fortunes. I got “normal luck” as usual. Just once, I’d like to get “big luck”! Maybe next year.

After that, we walked to Tokyo Tower, which is just across the street behind the temple.

My friend had never gone to the viewing platform and it was almost sunset, so we thought we might as well go while we were in the area.

The wait was less than 15 minutes for the middle platform and I managed to get a nice picture of the sunset, so I think it was worth the time and money.

All things considered, it was one of the most memorable shrine visits I’ve had in a long time.

数か月前の正月休みに、友人と今年最初の参拝で増上寺に行くことにしました。

当然、お寺はものすごく混んでいました。人混みを抜けて本堂の階段に着くまで5分かかりました。

お賽銭を捧げて祈った後、おみくじをもらいに行きました。私はいつものように「中吉」でした。一度でいいから「大吉」をもらいたいです！来年はぜひ。

その後、お寺の裏の通りの向かいにある東京タワーまで歩きました。

友人は展望台に行ったことがなく、もうすぐ日が沈む頃だったので、せっかくなので行ってみることにしました。

中間の展望台は15分も待たずにすみ、なんとかきれいな夕日の写真も撮れたので、時間とお金をかける価値はあったと思います。

すべてを考慮すると、これは私が長い間経験した中で最も思い出に残る神社訪問の一つでした。
