Hello everyone! Stacey here from Jabble Musashi-Kosugi, and today I want to share something that I’ve been looking forward to for the last few months.
If you’re a Pokémon fan like me, chances are, it’s something you’ve been really excited about too!
As some of you might already know, I live really close to Yomiuriland. It’s actually only about a 15-minute walk from my house.
Living so close to an amusement park is already pretty cool, but what made it even better was discovering that something very special is opening up inside the park soon.
I absolutely love Pokémon. I’ve loved it for years. I started playing the games and collecting the cards when I was only 3 years old.
Nowadays, I’ve been catching lots of Pokémon in Pokémon GO, and just enjoying how Pokémon brings people of all ages together.
So imagine my surprise when I found out that PokePark, a brand-new Pokémon-themed park, is opening inside Yomiuriland.
When I first moved to this area, I had no idea this was going to happen, so realizing that I had moved right next to an upcoming Pokémon park felt almost unreal.
Since the moment I found out, I’ve been counting down the days.
Recently, I finally got a small sneak peek of the park. One day, I received some free tickets to Yomiuriland in the mail.
Of course, I was excited to visit, but what I was really looking forward to was the chance to get a glimpse of the PokePark area even if it was only from a distance.
On the gondola lift ride up to the park, I was able to get a surprisingly good view.
From above, I could clearly see what looked like a real Pokémon Center; it was like a childhood dream come true.
I also spotted what appeared to be a Pokémon-themed merry-go-round. Even though the park isn’t open yet, just seeing those details made everything feel much more real.
After getting off the gondola, I could see a bit more of the park from the ground.
The area was fenced off from the rest of Yomiuriland, but I could still get a good view of the entrance.
What really stood out were the huge Pokémon statues. I could clearly see Gyarados (ギャラドス) and Tyranitar (バンギラス), and they were massive.
It reminded me of the theme parks in the Pokémon anime.
What really helped me get a preview of the park was Pokémon GO. Some of the statues have already been turned into PokéStops, so I could actually see them on my phone.
Even though I couldn’t see those statues in real life from where I was standing, it was fun catching a glimpse of them in the Pokémon GO world.
From everything I’ve seen so far, the park looks like it’s going to be incredibly detailed and immersive.
Even without being able to enter yet, I could tell that a lot of care has gone into designing the space. It really feels like a dream location for Pokémon fans of all ages.
I also recently learned that tickets for PokePark are not sold like normal Yomiuriland tickets.
Instead, you have to enter a lottery for a chance to buy tickets. So of course, I applied!
I actually submitted my application just yesterday, and now I’m anxiously waiting for the results.
If I’m lucky enough to win the lottery, I’ll be visiting the park on my birthday, which would make it extra special.
I honestly can’t think of a better way to celebrate. Fingers crossed!
Living in Japan often comes with these unexpected moments. I’m always discovering something new, exciting, and totally unique to this country.
Experiences like this are one of the reasons I love living here and also why I enjoy teaching at Jabble Musashi-Kosugi.
Whether it’s Pokémon, travel, food, or daily life in Japan, there’s always something interesting to talk about, and those real experiences make English conversations more fun and meaningful.
If you’re a Pokémon fan, or if you’re just curious about what life is like around Musashi-Kosugi and the rest of Kawasaki, I hope you enjoyed reading about my experience.
And if I do win those tickets, you can be sure I’ll be talking about it in class!
Wish me luck, and see you soon at Jabble!
