South Africa won the 2023 Rugby World Cup in France🏆
I woke up at 4 in the morning to watch the final. I wasn’t going to miss it for anything!
South Africa beat New Zealand by one point! It was a very close game.

I feel rugby is becoming more popular in Japan especially after the 2019 World Cup.
Rugby is a great sport but there are a lot of rules.

In South Africa, however, rugby is more than just a sport. It’s a part of South African culture.
I recently finished reading South Africa’s rugby captain Siya Kolisi’s autobiography. His story is very inspiring.

南アフリカが、フランスで開催された2023年のラグビーワールドカップで優勝しました🏆
絶対に見逃すつもりはなかったので、決勝を見るために早朝４時に起きました。
とても接戦の試合でしたが、南アフリカはニュージーランドに１点差で勝ちました！

2019年のワールドカップ以降、ラグビーは日本で人気になってきていると感じます！
ラグビーは、素晴らしいスポーツだと思いますが、ルールがたくさんありますね。

でも、南アフリカではラグビーは単なるスポーツではなく、南アフリカ文化の一つです。私は最近、南アフリカのラグビーチームのキャプテンであるシヤ・コリシの自伝を読み終わりましたが、とても感動的でした。

Hi everyone!
Are you familiar with the Harry Potter series? I would be really surprised if you weren’t.
Recently, the actor who played Dumbledore passed away. My friend and I decided to marathon the whole Harry Potter series to honor his memory. It took 19 hours and 40 minutes!
It was sad but also nice to watch a series that was so important to my childhood.

ハリーポッター・シリーズに詳しいですか？もし、そうでなかったらビックリさせてしまうかもしれません。最近、ダンブルドア役の俳優が亡くなりました。友達と彼を追悼するため、ハリー・ポッターシリーズをすべて一気に観ることにしたんですが、全部で１９時間４０分かかりました！
彼が亡くなったのは悲しい出来事でしたが、子供の頃にとても大切だったシリーズを観られて良かったです。

Rabbit café🐇

This summer, I went to a rabbit café in Akihabara with my friend.
We had a lot of fun petting rabbits and feeding them.
I was surprised, because they were not shy with strangers.
They sat on my lap!🐇💛
We stayed there for 1 hour, but I wanted to stay a little bit longer.

この夏、友人とうさぎカフェに行ってきました～♪
触ったり餌をあげたりして楽しみました🐇
驚いたのは、うさぎたちは全然人見知りしなかったこと！
膝の上に乗ってくるんです！🐇💛

I‘ve been playing Pokémon games since I was little.
I sometimes play a smartphone game with Jabble teachers and buy Pokémon merchandise.😂👍
Speaking of Pokémon goods, have you heard of “Poké Lids”?
They’re decorative manhole covers.
The covers have drawings of Pokémon characters.
There are a total of 235 Poké Lids in twenty-three prefectures.✨
I’ve seen them in Yokohama, Ishigaki-island and Ueno.
I want to see all the Poké Lids someday.👍

私は小さいころからずっとポケモンのゲームをやっています！
たまにJabbleの先生たちと一緒にスマホゲームをしたり、ポケモンのグッズを買ったりしています😂👍
ポケモンといえば、みなさん“ポケふた”を知っていますか？
装飾されたマンホールのことで、
蓋にはポケモンのキャラクターがデザインされています。
現在23都道府県に235種類のポケふたがあるんです！✨
私は横浜、石垣島、上野のポケふたを見てきました♪

※Poké Lids：「lid」は鍋や瓶などの「蓋」のことを言います。ここでの「lid」は、ポケモンのマンホールの蓋のことを意味しているようですが、Ｊａｂｂｌｅのネイティブ講師は「マンホールの蓋」に関しては「lid」ではなく「cover」を使うそうです。また、「マンホール」は英語でも「manhole」と言います。ネットで検索すると「utility hole」も出てきますが、ネイティブ講師は聞いたこともない😅とのことでしたので、そのまま「manhole」の方を使ってくださいね☺♪

Dinosaur exhibition🦕

In Golden Week, I went to the National Museum of Nature and Science in Ueno to see a special dinosaur exhibition.
It was my first time to see dinosaur bones on display.
There were two T-Rex skeletons called “Tyson” and “Scotty”.
I was surprised by the size of the T-Rex.
It felt like I was in the movie, Jurassic Park!

I don’t often go to science museums because I prefer history.
However, I thought this quote from Kirk Johnson was interesting.
“Fossils are our planet’s memory. Our Earth has written its autobiography in rock and fossils.”

ゴールデンウィークに、上野の国立科学博物館で開催されている恐竜の特別展に行きました。
恐竜の骨格の展示を見るのは初めて。
そこには2つのT-Rexの骨があり、「タイソン」「スコッティ」と名前がついていました。
T-Rexの大きさにビックリ😲！
「ジュラシック・パーク」の映画の世界に行った気分でした。

私は歴史の方が好きなので、あまり科学博物館には行きません。
でも、カーク・ジョンソンの発言から引用したこの言葉は興味深いと思いました。
「化石は地球の記憶です。私たちの地球の自伝は、岩石と化石によって書かれてきました。

Cherry blossom party 🌸

We had a Cherry blossom party on April 2nd.
About 40 people including Funabashi school teachers and staff went to the party!
This time it was a potluck, so everyone brought and shared their own food.
We had fun talking, eating, drinking, playing badminton, and dancing.
Everyone had a great time!
We’d like to hold a party again, so please join us!

4/2にお花見を開催しました！
船橋校の講師・スタッフを含め、約40名にご参加いただきました。
今回はポットラックパーティだったので、各自食事をお持ちいただいて、皆でシェアしました♪
会話したり、飲食したり、バドミントンをしたり、踊ったり

Relaxing day at Kusatsu Onsen

A few days ago, I went to Kusatsu Onsen for the first time in about 10 years.
It’s one of Japan’s top hot spring resorts.
This time, I went to Nishi no Kawara Rotenburo which had a huge outdoor public onsen.
There weren’t many people around, so I could relax in peace.🛀
Since there was no place to wash off, I had to rinse myself with water from a wooden bucket before I entering the onsen.

I also went to Kusatsu Nettaiken.
It was a mini zoo that had animals from warm climates.
They breed crocodiles, capybaras and other animals there.
I had the most fun touching a brown lemur and a night monkey.🐒
They were fluffy and so friendly.🐵💕

数日前、約10年ぶりに草津温泉に行きました！
草津温泉は日本で有名な温泉の一つです。
今回私は大きな露天風呂がある西の河原温泉へ。
近くに人もいなかったので、リラックスして入浴できました🛁
洗い場がないので、シャワーではなく桶でかけ湯をしてから入ります😊

草津熱帯圏という、熱帯生物がたくさんいる小さな動物園にも行きました！🐒
そこではワニやカピバラなど様々な生物が飼育されています。
中でも楽しかったのは、ブラウンキツネザルやヨザルを触れたことです！
もこもこしていて可愛かったなあ🐵💕

Returning to South Africa

In 2021 Japan hosted Olympics.
My parents’ neighbour in South Africa asked me if could buy an official 2020 Olympics cap.
At the time, I didn’t know why he wanted a cap.
I bought a cap at one of the 2020 Olympics pop-up stores in Tokyo.
I went to South Africa last December and gave my neighbour his cap.
The next day my neighbour invited me over to show me his cap collection.
How many caps can you see?!

2021年、日本はオリンピックの主催国を務めましたね！
私は南アフリカに住んでいる両親の隣人から、2020年オリンピックの公式キャップを購入できないか聞かれました。
当時、どうして彼がそれを欲しがっているのかわかりませんでしたが、東京オリンピックのポップアップストアでキャップを購入し、去年の12月に南アフリカに帰国したときに渡しました。
次の日、隣人は自身のキャップコレクションを見せるため、家に招待してくれました。

How did you spend your New Year‘s holiday season?
One the last day before our winter holiday, we decided to wear red & white Christmas costumes at Funabashi Jabble！⛄🎅
As you can see, Angie wore a reindeer costume!💕🦌

Well, my New Year‘s holiday was awesome!
I went to the Deep Sea Aquarium in Numazu, Shizuoka.🐟
There were a lot of unique deep sea fish and creatures.🐙
The shallow and deep sea creatures were displayed side-by-side.
When I saw frozen coelacanths, I was surprised because they were so big!!😲
I couldn’t help buying souvenirs for myself there because their merchandise was cool.👛🤣

冬期休暇前の最終営業日、Jabble船橋校では先生とスタッフで赤と白のクリスマスらしい衣装を着ました！⛄🎅
ご覧の通り、アンジーはトナカイになってました～！🦌💕

さて、私の年末年始はとても良かったです！
静岡県沼津市にある深海水族館に行きました🐟
そこには面白い深海魚や深海生物たちがたくさん🐙！
浅い海の生物と、深い海の生物がいる水槽がそれぞれ隣同士に並んで展示されていて、比較して見ることができました。
冷凍のシーラカンスを見たときは、その大きさにびっくり..😲！
水族館のオリジナルグッズが良すぎて、自分用のお土産を買わずにはいられませんでした👛🤣
